St Patrick’s Day: Homos not welcome!

Yes, you read that correctly. Gays need not apply to participate in the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade, held this year this coming Sunday, March 17th, in South Boston. Again, the organizers of the celebration have turned down all groups from the LGBT community, invoking the Supreme Court ruling that allows them to decline registrations on the basis of the community represented by those who wish to march. And yes, that IS discrimination against our community!

To protest this discrimination and remind that the Boston Pride Parade welcomes EVERYONE, Boston Pride is delighted to announce its sponsorship of the Peace Parade, to be held this Sunday in South Boston, right after the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

*Help fight discrimination against the LGBT community by participating in the Peace Parade*

Spread the word and forward widely – we cannot accept this discrimination any longer!

It is beyond my understanding that in this country there could be such blatant and naked discrimination. I am saddened by this state of affairs. To my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community I want to say that II am deeply disappointed in those Bostonian s who would close their eyes to such deplorable behavior. I honor VFP members who are joining the LGBT march and long for the day that all men and women will treat each other with compassion and equality. John Spitzberg, VFP, Chapter 099.
