Boston Pride Announces Award Winning Karmin as the Headline Performer for 2013 Festival

Berklee College of Music Alums turned Worldwide Pop Stars to Perform June 8th Festival on Boston’s City Hall Plaza 

Boston (April 2, 2013)– Boston Pride announced through their mobile app today that the acclaimed pop duo Karmin will be headlining the Boston Pride Festival being held on Saturday, June 8th from noon to 6pm at Boston’s City Hall Plaza. The Festival is the last stop on the Boston Pride Parade route and will host entertainment, the Family Zone, the Main Stage Lounge, Artisan Avenue and over 100 vendors for people of all ages.

“We are so pleased to announce that we will be headlining this year’s Boston Pride Festival at City Hall Plaza on Saturday, June 8th. The festival is free and open to anyone who wants to come celebrate Pride with us,” said Karmin’s Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan on a special video they made for Boston Pride.

“Boston Pride is excited to have Karmin as our headline act,” said Linda DeMarco, president of Boston Pride.  “The duo, having roots in Boston and based in Boston, have some of their most loyal fans in this city and beyond.  We know that they will put on an amazing performance for Boston Pride.”

Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan met as freshmen at Berklee College of Music in Boston. They formed Karmin after they graduated. In their living room with a wooden box and a guitar, Karmin started posting rearrangements of hits on the radio to YouTube and gained more than 200 million views. In 2011, Karmin released “Brokenhearted” which quickly reached the top 20 in the United States.

Boston Pride Week 2013 will be held from May 31st through June 9th. This year’s theme is “Moving Forward…Proud, Strong, United.” Kicking the week o ff with The Annual Flag Raising Ceremony, 2013 Pride Week will also include,  Pride Day @ Faneuil Hall, Royal Pageant, Boston Pride Parade, Boston Pride Festival, Boston Pride Youth Dance,  Boston Pride Block Party: JP Edition and Boston Pride Block Party: Back Bay Edition.
