Boston Pride Names The Rainbow Times as its Official Media Partner

[UPDATE – 07/25/2014] – Upon recommendation from our legal counsel, Boston Pride has terminated its partnership with The Rainbow Times (TRT) and severed all ties with TRT. Accordingly, the iPads mentioned below have all been returned to TRT.

Boston Pride has recently designated The Rainbow Times, TRT, as its Official media partner. In addition to this 2014 official partnership, TRT has donated over $2,500 in cash donations to Boston Pride in the form of 4 iPads complete with data plans, in addition to its in-kind donations, as a way to give back to the organization, according to Boston Pride officials. TRT is also producing the Boston Pride Guide 2014.

“This partnership with The Rainbow Times will allow Boston Pride to inform the community throughout New England in a complete fashion: we will be able to advertise and promote the official events of the Boston Pride Week celebration both through traditional newspaper advertisement, but also through online engagement via social networks,” said Sylvain Bruni, Boston Pride president. “We believe that this will help inform more people, and better.”

Through the years, The Rainbow Times has given to Boston Pride, not only via in-kind donations, but also through cash donations and other arrangements. TRT has also placed itself at the forefront of any Latin@ Pride events and has designed specific coverage and community building for that celebration too.

“We have developed a strong relationship with Boston Pride throughout the years, which has afforded us the 2014 ‘Official’ partnership status, something we’ve also earned in former years,” said Gricel M. Ocasio, TRT Publisher. “It is about believing that we, as a company, have a responsibility to the betterment of our community. This donation of the four iPads to Boston Pride shows exactly our commitment to changing the way media outlets deal with non-profit organizations. We have to go beyond the in-kind donations to provide tangible contributions and assist organizations in moving forward by providing necessary resources for them to do so.

“This year’s Boston Pride Guide production is already underway,” said Ocasio. “The response from community businesses and political candidates has been overwhelming and it speaks to the importance that the LGBT community has in Boston. We’re thrilled to be a part of this community.”

According to Boston Pride, the iPads and data plans will be useful during Boston Pride week, from June 6th – June 15th, 2014, with paperless information and state-of-the-art technological efficiency for attendees and its crew.

“The [four] donated iPads will be very helpful to speed up check-in and registration at the Parade and Festival, but also to facilitate and accelerate entrance at ticketed events. Using iPads will be a great way to ensure that our volunteer and staff constantly has the most up-to-date information at the tip of their fingers, rather than having to handle paper,” added Bruni. “Additionally, the iPads will help us with taking pictures and videos and uploading them to our social networks like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Vine much faster, and with better quality.”

The Rainbow Times has a history of partnering with other non-profit Pride organizations such as Northampton Pride, Hartford Pride, North Shore Pride, Worcester Pride, PrideFest Rhode Island, World Pride, and others.
“When The Rainbow Times was established in 2006, it was always part of our philosophy to give back philanthropically when we could,” said Nicole C. Lashomb, TRT Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder. “We have given hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of in-kind and cash donations to organizations throughout New England. We pride ourselves in being representatives of the community that we serve. It can’t always be about making money. We have to give, to receive.”
