Boston Pride sends its félicitations to France for passing marriage equality !
Today, the French National assembly (House of representatives) voted in favor of marriage equality in France. This vote was the final step in the process to update French law and grant the right to marry to all couples, after a first vote in the National assembly on February 12 and a second vote by the French Senate on April 12.
Boston Pride congratulates all organizations, individuals and elected officials who successfully fought for equality and fairness in France, despite the recent outbreaks of homophobic discourse and physical violence in Paris and other French cities. Boston Pride cosponsored the “OUI for equality” rally held this past January (click here to read more) in support of the French marriage equality bill. All defenders of equality in France, in the United States and around the world are encouraged to stay strong and keep up the great work they do.
Boston Pride invites all French citizens and francophones in the greater Boston area to join and celebrate this accomplishment on June 8th, during the Boston Pride Parade and Festival!
