Boston, Mass., June 1, 2016 – Below is a statement from Sylvain Bruni, president of Boston Pride, regarding the passage of the public accommodations bill for transgender individuals by the Massachusetts House of Representatives:

By passing legislation that will ensure that transgender men and women feel safe in public, Massachusetts has once again demonstrated that it remains a leader in LGBT issues. We congratulate the Massachusetts House for passing this legislation, which will help transgender individuals face less discrimination in their everyday lives. Since Governor Charlie Baker has said he will sign the House version of the bill, we know that this will soon become the law of our land. As Pride Month in Boston begins, we look forward to that day and the day in which all members of our community are treated fairly and equally.
