Boston – Wednesday, February 22nd – Boston Pride condemns the executive order issued by the Trump administration that rescinds the protection of transgender students in our public schools. While schools should be a safe place for trans* students to learn and grow, many face bullying, harassment and violence. Rescinding these protections not only takes us back, but it also promotes further divisions in our communities.

Massachusetts has been a leader when it comes to promoting rights in the LGBTQ community. Last year, the Commonwealth passed public accommodations legislation that protects the rights of transgender individuals. We urge all public schools to continue standing up for trans* individuals and standing against intolerance. Boston Pride will continue to work in solidarity with our community and trans* advocacy groups to prevent any rollback of our rights.
