Boston Pride attended the 2018 North East Regional Pride (NERP) conference, hosted by Rhode Island Pride this month in Providence, RI. Twelve members of our Committee networked with fellow Pride organizers in the northeast United States, and attended educational sessions, with topics ranging from “LGBTI Human Rights at the UN” and “Active Shooter Training” to “Creating and Sustaining Effective Organizational Cultures” and “An Intergenerational Approach to Pride”. Additionally, two members of the Boston Pride Committee, Boston Pride Guide Co-editor Jessie DeStefano, and Advising Editor Michael Anthony Fowler, delivered a hands-on workshop about developing inclusivity policies. The 2018 NERP conference also marked the end of Boston Pride President Sylvain Bruni’s term as regional director, a position that affords representation for NERP members on the board of InterPride, the international association of Pride organizers. Our organization’s strong presence at this conference, and our continued involvement with InterPride, shows the leadership role Boston Pride is taking in the Pride movement worldwide.
