Dear friends, Since 1971 Boston Pride has celebrated the successes and the struggles of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in New England and around the world. We honor the courage of those who took to the streets at Stonewall in 1969, the joy of the first same-sex couples in the US to legally say, "I do" four years ago, and those who lost their lives a few weeks ago at a Knoxville, Tenn. church for daring to post a "Gays Welcome" sign above their door. Boston Pride reminds us all, "you are not alone." The Boston Pride Committee organizes a week of highly successful Pride events each year, and we invite you to be a part of making it happen. With over 1 million participants sharing in the celebration throughout the week, you have an opportunity to begin organizing the fun now. Help us plan a block party, book festival entertainers, coordinate media outreach or schedule volunteers. Are you interested in the environment? We even need volunteers to plan our green initiative. We hope that you will join us. That you will work with us to ensure that future generations can take to the streets with joy. To ensure that discrimination against any member of our community is not tolerated.
