World Pride

Boston Pride announced today that it will be representing Boston and Massachusetts at the 2014 WorldPride celebration in Toronto that is being held from June 20 – 29, 2014.  Boston Pride will promote the Boston area and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as premiere LGBT destinations that are friendly, open, safe and accepting of all.  Boston Pride’s attendance at WorldPride in Toronto is supported by grants from the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) and the Mass. Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT.)

“The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau is very pleased to be partnering with and financially supporting Boston Pride to promote Boston, Cambridge and the region at WorldPride in Toronto. This week long celebration is a unique opportunity for the Boston and Massachusetts visitor industry to showcase to the world all that Boston offers. We are very grateful Boston Pride asked us to support their WorldPride initiative and to partner with them,” Patrick Moscaritolo, CEO, Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau said.

Boston Pride, a founding member of InterPride, is sending a 16-member delegation to WorldPride in Toronto including board members, long term members of the Pride Committee including members of Latino Pride and Black Pride, Boston Police LGBT liaison Javier Pagan and former Grand Marshal Fast Freddy Murphy.  While at WorldPride, Boston Pride will participate in the Travel Showcase of the WorldPride Festival on Saturday, June 28, and march in the WorldPride Parade on Sunday, June 29, with InterPride.

“Boston Pride is truly grateful for the support from the GBCVB and the state as we visit to Toronto to celebrate at WorldPride and to spread the word about the wonderful travel opportunities in Greater Boston and Massachusetts for the LGBT community,” said Sylvain Bruni, President, Boston Pride.  “After coming off a successful Pride Week with more than 30 events culminating with the annual Pride Parade and Festival that attracted almost 500,000 spectators, we want to make the world aware that Boston and Massachusetts are top destinations for LGBT visitors.”

At WorldPride, Boston Pride will represent all Pride organizations in Massachusetts including Boston Pride, Worcester Pride, Springfield Pride, Northampton Pride, North Shore Pride and Provincetown’s Carnival celebration.

“We invite all of our friends from Massachusetts who will be in Toronto for WorldPride to march with us on Sunday, June 29,” said Bruni.
